Privacy notice

DQ Intel is a commercial intelligence service for the upstream oil, gas and drilling supply chain. This notice explains what personal data we hold, why we hold it, who handles it for us, and what you can ask us to do with it.

1. Who we are

DQ Intel is provided by DQ Offshore Limited, a company registered in Scotland (SC558260) at 5 Carden Place, Aberdeen, AB10 1UT, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described here. The platform is built and operated for us by 9point0, who act on our instructions.

2. The data we hold, and why

If you ask for a demo

We keep what you give us in the form: your name, job title, company, work email, phone number if you add one, and your answers about what you sell, where you sell it, the operators you want to win, the size of your team, how you find leads today and when you would want the service. We use it to reply, to prepare the demo around your market, and to decide whether DQ Intel is a fit. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering a request you made, and taking steps at your request before a contract.

If you have a login

We hold your email address, your role, the workspace you belong to, and what you do in the service that needs remembering: the leads you save, their status, your private notes, the ratings you give, what you have read, and the emails we send you (the daily digest and the morning brief). Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is never visible to us. Our lawful basis is the contract with you or your employer.

When anyone uses the site

To protect logins we record failed sign-in attempts: the visitor's IP address and a one-way hash of the email that was tried, never the email itself. These records are deleted after 24 hours. Our hosting provider also keeps short-lived server logs. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure. We do not run advertising or analytics trackers. If you are named in our intelligence

DQ Intel tracks drilling projects and the companies behind them. Where a published source or a licensed business data provider names the person responsible for drilling, subsurface or procurement at an operating company, we may hold that person's name, job title, employer, work email address and the source it came from. We hold business contact details only, never private ones, and we do not profile individuals.

We use these details so that our subscribers, who supply the drilling industry, can make a relevant business approach to the right person. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: ours and our subscribers' in business-to-business contact, weighed against the limited, professional nature of the data. You can object at any time. Email info@dqoffshore.com and we will remove your details.

3. How we use AI

The service uses AI models to read published articles, company releases and market reports, to decide whether they describe a real drilling project, to summarise them and to draft emails for a person to review. The personal data that reaches those models is limited to what appears in the published sources and the business contact details described above. No decision with legal or similarly significant effect on a person is made by automated means, and no email is sent without a person choosing to send it.

4. Who handles data for us

We use a small number of providers, each under a contract that limits what they may do with the data:

Supabase: our database and sign-in service.
Vercel: hosting for this website and the application.
Resend: sending our emails.
Trigger.dev: running the scheduled jobs that read sources and build briefings.
Anthropic and other AI model providers: reading and summarising published sources, and drafting text.
Prospeo and similar business data providers: verifying business contact details.
Web search and page reading services, which receive search terms about companies and projects, not data about our users.

Subscribers see the project intelligence and business contacts that match their subscription. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share demo requests or account data with anyone except the providers above, or where the law requires it.

5. Where data goes

Some of these providers are based in, or use infrastructure in, the United States and the European Union. Where personal data leaves the United Kingdom we rely on a UK adequacy decision where one applies, and otherwise on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum.

6. How long we keep it

Demo requests: up to 24 months from your last contact with us, unless you become a customer.
Account data: for as long as you have a login, and up to 12 months after it closes.
Failed sign-in records: 24 hours.
Business contacts in our intelligence: reviewed as projects move, marked stale when we can no longer verify them, and removed when a person asks or the details are no longer useful.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict how we use it, to move it, and you can object to our using it on the basis of legitimate interests, including for direct marketing. Email info@dqoffshore.com and we will answer within one month. It costs nothing.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. If you are in the EU you may complain to your local data protection authority.

8. Security

Access to the service is by individual login. Data is encrypted in transit, access inside the database is restricted by workspace so one customer can never read another's, and a subscriber's private notes are not shown to our own operators.

9. Changes

We will update this notice when what we do changes, and change the date at the top. If a change is significant we will tell account holders by email.
